Protection Against Those Who Bear Firearms

103rd Annual Convention of
the Central Conference of American
Rabbis
San Antonio, Texas, April, 1992
WHEREAS, the Central Conference of American Rabbis has long
supported handgun control
legislation at the local, state and national levels, andWHEREAS, the Central Conference of American Rabbis is actively represented on the National Handgun Control Committee and is an active participant in the fight to control the spread of handguns, and
WHEREAS in 1968, 1975, 1989, the Central Conference of American Rabbis has stated its continued opposition to the proliferation of handguns, and
WHEREAS, the Central Conference of American Rabbis reaffirms its position on handgun control,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Central Conference of American Rabbis is now committed to working actively at the local, state and federal levels to support legislation making the owners of firearms criminally responsible for any accidental discharge of their weapon(s) and for any and all injuries caused to children and adults alike, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Central Conference of American Rabbis expresses its commitment to insure that all owners of firearms (with the exception of law enforcement officials) be required to display boldly and visibly the presence of firearms either at home or at their place of work in order to warn those who might unknowingly send their children to or frequent such places.
