Resolution Adopted by the CCAR

Standards for Jewish Educational Positions

Adopted by the CCAR at the 90th Annual Convention of
the Central Conference of American Rabbis
Phoenix, Arizona, March 26-29, 1979

The commitment to a high quality of Jewish education and a high status for the Jewish educator in the Reform Movement is ever growing. We hope that the day will come when all congregations can be served by Jewish professionals who, through their academic and professional training, can fulfill the ever broader and more demanding role of temple educators.

The Central Conference of American Rabbis concurs with the Joint Commission on Jewish Education in its call for the CCAR, NATE, ACCHUC-JIR and UAHC to enter into immediate consultations to bring about the establishment of agreed upon standards for Reform Jewish educators and a structure through which those standards may be implemented.
