CHAPLAINCY

Digests of resolutions adopted by the

Central Conference of American Rabbis

between 1889 and 1974

1. Noting the centennial anniversary of the signing into law by President Abraham Lincoln on July 17, 1862 of the first bill authorizing the commissioning of rabbis as chaplains in the Armed Forces of the United States, the Central Conference of American Rabbis asks that this Conference appropriately mark this observance and participate in the national celebration of this event.
