Resolution Adopted by the CCAR

Environment

Adpoted by the 103rd Annual Convention of

the

Central Conference of American Rabbis

San Antonio, Texas, April,

1992

WHEREAS, the United States of

America is still looked to by much of the world for

example and leadership, and

WHEREAS, the environmental crisis for the entire

planet, including North America,

has reached the emergency stage;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Central Conference of

American Rabbis urgently

insists

that President George Bush lead the United States delegation to the

UNCED

(United Nations Conference on

Environment and Development in Brazil, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the United States

delegation attend UNCED without preconceived

limitations on the actions to be taken in concert

with the other nations of the planet,

and go with open minds and serious concern for the survival of

humanity which is imminently threatened.
