Proposed US Aid to Israel

Resolution Adopted by the CCAR

PROPOSED US AID TO ISRAEL

Adopted by the Board of Trustees
Central

Conference of American Rabbi
March 26, 2003

Whereas, the

State of Israel has been one of the United States’ closest allies

since 1948, and is the only democracy in the Middle East,

And whereas, the United States and

the State of Israel have shared a strong relationship of friendship

and of mutual support,

And

whereas, Israel has incurred extraordinary expenses in its war against

terrorism since September of 2000,

And whereas, Israel’s economy has been suffering immeasurably

due to the loss of tourism and investment during this same period,

And whereas, Israel is

presently incurring tremendous costs due to the US war in Iraq,

And whereas, the people

of Israel have endured tremendous personal and communal pain and

hardships as victims of terrorism,

And whereas, Israel has requested a combined aid package of 12

billion dollars from the United States, 4 billion in aid and 8 billion

in loan guarantees, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Central Conference of America Rabbis

strongly support Israel’s request for aid and urges both houses of

Congress as well as President Bush to enact this legislation with all

due urgency, and

BE IT FURTHER

RESOLVED, that the CCAR once again commend the present administration

for its ongoing support of Israel and its security needs.
