Resolution Adopted by the CCAR
Saluting NFTY on Its 50th Anniversary
Adopted by the CCAR at the 100th Annual Convention of
the Central Conference of American Rabbis
Cincinnati, Ohio June, 1989
WHEREAS the North American Federation of Temple Youth is celebrating its 50th anniversary
in 1989; and
WHEREAS the youth of our Reform movement represent our hope for a bright future for
our people; and
WHEREAS the founding of the North American Federation of Temple Youth was, in part,
under the guidance of members of the Central Conference of American Rabbis; and
WHEREAS scores of our youth have come into the rabbinate and into positions of lay
and professional leadership from the ranks of NFTY, and
WHEREAS NFTY continues to provide rich Jewish experience for the youth of our congregations,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the CCAR
1. salutes NFTY, its leaders past and present;
2. encourages rabbis and congregations to set aside a NFTY Shabbat during the coming
year in order that tribute be paid to the accomplishments of our youth movement and
its contributions to Jewish life;
3. honors those rabbis who actively engage in youth activities as a vital part of
their rabbinate.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all CCAR members affirm the importance of TYG, regional
and summer camp programs by serving as rabbinic volunteers for teenage youth.
