This retreat will offer participants time and space to study, pray, and deepen relationships with colleagues. With thanks to funding from the Jim Joseph Foundation, our time together will be guided by the Jewish Studio Project.
“In the beginning God created.” The opening chapter of B’reishit offers a powerful case for creativity: we are created to create, we are all creative, and our creating creates the world. Through the Jewish Studio Process—a unique methodology that brings together text study and art making practices from the field of art therapy—we will cultivate creative capacities that can revitalize and sustain us. In this hands-on retreat, Rabbi Adam Lavitt from the Jewish Studio Project will utilize JSP’s teachings and pedagogy to investigate uncertainty, cultivate curiosity, process complexity, and activate the power of our imagination.
Retreat Times: May 8 – May 10, 2023
Our program begins at 4pm on Monday evening and concludes at noon on Wednesday.
Programming will include opportunities to eat, pray, learn and be creative together, along with time for rest and to enjoy Pearlstone’s beautiful campus and unique offerings. Check-in begins at 3pm on Monday and checkout is at 10am on Wednesday. Pearlstone’s luggage closet may be used to store personal belongings prior to or after check-in and checkout.
Travel Information:
By Car: Pearlstone is located outside of Baltimore, Maryland, about two and a half hours south from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
By Plane: Pearlstone is about a 40-minute drive from Baltimore-Washington International Airport. Those traveling by plane should aim to land by 1pm in order to arrive at Pearlstone prior to the retreat start time.
Lodging:

Food: Pearlstone’s fresh, healthy and delicious meals feature Certified Organic produce fresh from their own farm. Their standard buffet-style service accommodates a wide range of tastes and preferences. Although they cannot guarantee a 100% allergen-free facility, the Pearlstone team does its very best to accommodate every reported food allergy and dietary restriction.

Registration: $775/single occupancy housing, $655/double occupancy housing
