Omer Chavruta 5785

This Omer, we invite you to join us in exploring what Martin Buber called a “real life.” Utilizing weekly guides that delve into each of the six chapters of Rabbi Bernard H. Mehlman, DHL, and Gabriel E. Padawer, ScD’s translation of Martin Buber’s The Way of Humanity: According to Chasidic Teaching, you will have the opportunity to study, process, and participate in a bit of mussar reflection together with a study partner or on your own. Sign up to connect with a colleague and get to know someone new, register solo, or use these materials to learn with an already established chavruta partner. Weekly materials will be emailed out each Friday for the duration of the counting of the Omer.

More information on The Way of Humanity and study guide:

The Way of Humanity is Rabbi Bernard H. Mehlman, DHL, and Gabriel E. Padawer, ScD’s translation of the German transcription of a six-part lecture Buber gave to the Woodbrookers Association in 1947 (xvii). Each part of the lecture includes a Chasidic story followed by Buber’s interpretation. Villareal-Belford’s guide helps readers process the story itself, as well as Buber’s interpretation, and then offers, as she writes: “questions and suggestions for how each reader can approach their own Way, their own path toward service to God (or Source, the Divine, Love—however one personally understands the word “God”).”
